HOLIDAY CARDS THAT SAVE LIVES AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE
FROM MALARIA NO MORE

Give Gift of Life With Cards that Fund Prevention of Malaria,
the Number One Killer of Children Under Five in Africa

Malaria No More debuted its first-ever series of holiday cards, the purchase of which will buy insecticide-treated bed nets to protect families from malaria. The cards are available as an e-card for $10 (the cost of providing a bed net to a family in Africa) or in the traditional form for $13.20 (the bed net plus card and delivery costs) at MalariaNoMore.org.

Every 30 seconds a child in Africa dies from malaria. Over one million people are killed by the disease every year, and a staggering 350 million to 500 million people are infected worldwide. Yet, malaria is a 100% preventable and treatable disease.

Bed nets are a critical yet simple way to stop the spread of malaria, which is transmitted by mosquito bites. Bed nets are suspended around beds to provide a protective barrier at night when the vast majority of malaria infections occur.

Every holiday card purchased includes a donation of $10, which buys a bed net, delivers it to a family in need, and educates them on how to use it properly. A single bed net sleeps 2-3 people and protects them for up to five years.

The holiday cards present compelling photographs of African children and mothers from Tanzania and Madagascar, two malaria-endemic countries. The netting is visible in each picture, whether serving as a colorful background or as part of the shot itself, as in the one photo featuring a smiling girl peeking from behind her bed net.

Cards are available for a wide assortment of celebrations including Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and New Years, as well as for birthdays and other special occasions. E-cards are also available, with the added feature that they may be purchased in honor of a friend or loved one. All cards can be customized and purchased at malarianomore.org.
